A culture of zero-tolerance towards harassment and/or abuse is bound to come as a bit of a shock to some people.

We're so used to casual awfulness both online and in meatspace, it will be jarring to be somewhere where the rules are completely different.

Even if you agree with the rules!

I think it's interesting that a significant chunk of the #Fediverse is trying to make this change. It won't be easy.

Fun things admins could inflict upon naughty users, if #Mastodev did punishments:

1) Make their posts not federate.

2) Make their posts unboostable.

3) Delay all their posts by 12 hours.

4) Replace their avatar with a dunce icon.

5) Forbid all posts not containing the #imsorry hashtag.

6) Disemvowelment.

7) Dolphinism.

All punishments would have built-in time limits. 🤡 👮 😆

Does anyone on mastodon understand #EU/#UK data #privacy and cross-jurisdiction warrants for seizing data from a #webhost, and who would be willing to offer me some advice to make sure my understanding is correct? #legal

Gonna make an instance where you get a warning and then a ban if you say "code it yourself" in response to someone asking for a particular feature.

It's okay to say "have you requested it on Github?" though, but if you ask that and they say no, you have to say "would you like me to do it for you?"

Also the background will be significantly lighter than the text.

(Not gonna make this instance because I do not know how and I do not have any admin/mod spoons left.)

I'm pondering the idea of maybe somehow creating/running an accessible instance. But there's a few things we'd need before I'd feel comfortable doing that:

1) Ability to delete account and export posts.
2) Ability to add image descriptions for screen readers.
3) Ability to easily see the user interface and local timeline *before* you make an account.

Also I'm not sure how easy it is for admins to adjust font sizes, colours, backgrounds, labels, etc.
