@vahnj I'm not sure I understand (and I would like to!). How would content from serial abusers (who you obviously don't federate with) be *at all* visible to your users?

@vahnj Why are instances you federate with required to NOT federate with some other instances? If (boosted) toots from instances you don't federate with were invilible to you, and (boosted) toots from awoo were invisible to instances you don't federate with, would you still require instances you federate with, to not federate with particular bad instances? If so, why?

I'd like to be able to follow users who interact (but don't necessarily agree) with people I don't want to ever see.

@maloki @HerraBRE so content from instances that awoo isn't federated with could never end up on awoo, even via a boost?

But could toots from awoo get boosted to then be seen on instances that awoo isn't federated with?

I'm assuming that the reason for requiring others to not federate with undesirables, is to prevent content from undesirables from being seen on awoo. In which case, it's really just a work around for a technical problem, though I can't find an issue for it???

Perhaps one day after full reform has been demonstrated to the community, it would be appropriate for Milan to take a position of power again, with supervision.

Federating with Milan's server means granting a position of power within the federation of nice instances, to one who is not worthy.

This is not really about Milan.

Why is blocking/suspending social.tchncs.de a controversial idea?

Unclear why it's even a topic of discussion.

I would like to see more instances follow the path of awoo.space, raising the ethical standard ever higher, and expanding it to become the new norm, to which all mainstream instances must conform.

Anything less is a ruinous compromise.

@HerraBRE would you consider moving to a safe instance so I can follow you from Awoo? (this is a cue for discussion)
