It seriously makes me want to check that site from time to time for news. If their point was "see how bad it would be if we didn't do all this stuff?" it's doing the opposite of what it wants because yes, I love this website, that's how I want it and every other one to be like

In which I take back another part of my digital life and step up to actually own it. This time it's setting up my own file-syncing replacement for Dropbox/Google Drive with @nextcloud.

I love that these more homebrew phone/laptop projects are springing up, usually with a power to the people ethos which is cool. From a longevity perspective though, long term software and spare parts support is important, and sometimes hard for small projects.
