NGC 2903 is a barred spiral galaxy located about 30 Mly away in the constellation of Leo. A barred spiral galaxy has at its centre a "bar" of stars, an elongated part of the core where much star formation occurs. Bars seem to be temporary as they're unstable gravitationally.
