i've never really watched much star trek but my impression is

every tos episode: the ship encounters an alien. kirk tries to either bang it (sex style) or bang it (shooting it style). a drunk scotsman yells what are probably slurs at mr spock

every tng episode: the ship encounters a reverse nadion flow asymmetry in the subspace manifold. picard learns something about another culture and wrestles with his conscience. Riker Gets Horny

@esvrld haha the funny thing is that kirk isn't atually that horny

riker tho....

@esvrld every DS9 episode is either "the crew gets involved in some kind of wacky escapade" or "Captain Sisko struggles with the implications of genocide

@Counsel @esvrld

ha, speaking of horny Riker we cannot forget the episode where he falls in love with an alien, an outcast and pariah on her homeworld. Her crime? Boldly daring to defy the genderless pansexual status quo and assert herself as a heterosexual woman!

@esvrld two points:

1. Kirk is done dirty by the popular consciousness. He's a lot more restrained and considerate in TOS than people remember. A thing I read a while back speculated that he got himbofied in pop culture in confusion with earlier space opera heroes and because Americans generally wanted that kind of character

2. Riker fucks, but is rarely horny. Geordi is extremely horny, but never fucks

@robotcarsley @esvrld
I was always confused by the horny Kirk meme once I actually started watching TOS. He’s pretty normal and has a few love interests in some episodes but it’s not like *that*

Riker and Geordi on the other hand are absolute sex perverts. The whole of the TNG crew are sex perverts.

@badboy69 @esvrld the episode where they all shame Barclay for his holodeck fantasies is particularly odious. You know every single member of the senior staff had their own dark shit in the holodeck and they were terrified of being exposed in front of the others

@robotcarsley @badboy69 @esvrld

There's a Voyager episode where the whole bridge crew lets on that they fuck the holograms.

@robotcarsley @badboy69 the plot with Geordi's fantasy of the mechanic who designed the Enterprise is so terrible. What he did on screen was almost as bad as what Barclay was doing. And he probably did even worse stuff off screen. But in the end, we're still supposed to side with him and pretend like Leah Brahms was just overreacting?

@esvrld just there for scotty tbh (and bones giving meaningful looks to everyone)
