47 years ago today.
I was an 11 year-old 5th grader at the time.
These things can't happen without having an impact on someone that age.
My son Isaac was an 11 year-old 5th grader when his mom was deployed for 18 months, 12 of them in Iraq.
My daughter Chloe was 13. My daughter Hilary was 15.

She sends food home on Fridays with kids who aren't certain to eat over the weekend. She makes sure the kids with volatile parents always go home on "green." She has comforted kids whose parents have gone to jail. She knows CPS officers by name. She does her utmost to give her students a strong start to their school careers.
My wife teaches Kindergarten. When she tells me the circumstances some of her students go home to, I am reminded she is a warrior.

BASIC has some really clunky building blocks that kinda act like rope, but if you try to hang yourself, it turns out you misunderstood how it interprets closures and you wind up just wrapping this protorope around the whole world. It's okay, though, there's no point high enough to hang from anyhow.
PHP has a get_rope() and a yourselfhanger(), but it turns out that just opens up an arbitrary code execution vuln.
