@Iuckyduck this is a drama I'm glad to be following from afar! π€€π
@gannet coffee's on & I'm better for it π Good morning to you!
Hi everyone.
Here is a PDF copy of "Toxic Parents" by Susan Forward and Craig Buck. It was referred to me by my therapist and deals with ways to reclaim your life when you have toxic parents (even as an adult).

@shoofle was it the one with Buddy Ebsen & the dog? That one's so good.

@fobo I don't know if it does anymore, but Austin had a pretty big used-to-be-pets population when I lived there 10+ years ago. They just hang out, doing bird things & being pretty π¦

@kikir thanks! Even if your mom's plant is stinky, I hope you enjoy the pretty flowers π
@kikir they sure can be pungent!
They've got a few names, including wax plant & porcelain flower.
@generica when I lived in NY, my rule was that I wouldn't patronize a place that didn't let me bring in my dog. #dogseverywhere

Re: stinky flowers, the particular stink of this variety is different from the many other stinks that different varieties of hoya produce. They've been described like all sorts of foods (vanilla, chocolate, citrus), and mine is closer to the smell of rotting greenery.
One of the neatest things about hoya flowers is the nectar they produce. It's super sticky and the source of the plant's notorious stink πΈπ¨
@SlowRain good for you for having that opportunity. A lot of people don't have to go anywhere to experience that.
