Tbh the news has left me more emotionally troubled than it probably should have given the fact that we never met in person.

@beni Thanks. It's been my commuter and touring bike for 7 years now, I've never owned a bike for that long.

@encarsia My commuter and touring bike is now over 10 years old and I put some 30'000 to 40'000 km on it. It's not a Surly but has all the relevant components: steel frame, Rohloff, Brooks saddle. Sadly my commute is now down to less than 1km - from 28km. So the bicycle is very under-used these days.

@beni That's awesome. I hope to travel to Iceland in the near future (preferably by ship). This year I will escape for a few days heading north to the Baltic Sea.

@encarsia I the pandemic situation permits and everything works out we will go back to Iceland this summer, by train and ship. The plan is to bring the mountain bikes to be able to ride into the highlands.

@kawaiipunk That is the sleeping equipment with rain cover. I was on a five days tour in a sparsely populated region so I did some wild camping without any tent.
