Bike commute today! It was in the low 50s (F, around 11℃) and beautiful this morning. I knew I'd have regrets if I took the easy way out and drove my car. I was a little late, but it was totally worth it.

This temperature at this time of year is nearly unheard of. It's amazing out.

Also nice the travel coffee cup that fits in one of my bottle cages. Coffee on the ride is very ... civilized.

3 parts London dry gin
1 part junmai ginjo sake

Stir with ice, and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a slice of pickled daikon.

Not bad; very gin forward. Pickling brine is an interesting note. Jury's still out.

My wife is currently in Kathmandu, Nepal continuing some on-going research and attending a conference. The library she was working with, Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya, was destroyed by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in 2015. These are images she has sent back of the new building housing the collection. It is constructed using traditional techniques and materials.
