I never felt like it was a problem that there was still evidence of the time wound after Alduin had been defeated. Timey wimey something something.
What I want to know is, where to the freaking dragons keep coming from, now that Alduin isn't bringing them back?
I've also enjoyed that there's always one (no more, no less) hold guard who notices that you've done something epic. "Hey, Dragonborn, thanks for saving the world. .... No lollygagging, btw."

To me it seems like truly defeating Alduin should also heal the time wound, so my interpretation is that it's *not* ultimate defeat.
Personally, I suspect that when the Dragonborn dies, all those dragon souls will be released... and that until then the Dragonborn who has absorbed Alduin's soul probably has within herself the power to be the destroyer of the world if she so chooses.
@stylus @DialMforMara I concocted the idea that some future hero will mantle the Akatosh/Alduin dichotomy and usher in the new Kalpa (which will look a lot the the world of the Elder Scrolls games, but without a bunch of preexisting lore dependencies) 🐲
