Given up at the birdsite. The recently ramped up behaviour of treating (many/all?) likes as retweets has pushed the signal to noise ratio below the threshold of acceptability.

@edavies For a while, I was able to get rid of all the "liked" tweets in my timeline by marking each of them as "I don't like this tweet".

This has worked for several weeks. However, the birdsite has recently made another attempt at inserting a lot of "liked" tweets into my timeline. They're very stubborn, apparently.

@stefanieschulte Which software gives a “I don't like this tweet” option? Not the web interface or Tweetdeck as far as I can see unless I'm not recognizing a de/en equivalence.

@edavies It's the last option here (German interface, but I guess it's the same in the English one). mastodon.cloud/media/KUTcUFBtl

@stefanieschulte Ah, yes, it's there now. I'm sure it wasn't earlier, at least for me. Twitter's weird. octodon.social/media/_Wc318NTC

@edavies I think that the system on which 2chan runs, and its clones (like 4chan), has a "SAGE" command that makes a thread sink deeper into the history. It's often used as "I don't like this" mark.

@edavies Tweetdeck makes this palletable, but yeah; it's a pain.

@craigmaloney Thanks. Giving Tweetdeck a try; at least it pushes all those likes off into a separate column.
