Queer, trans, gay, non-binary & others, neurodivergent folks, PoC, this place doesn't mean anything without you. There would be 1.5 techbros here and it would wither and die without you.
Thank you for being here 💚

My experience so far with Mastodon, in one easy command line:

$ make friends

So moving from WordPress to ClassicPress was just temporary. Now converting all sites to Hugo and hosting for free on Netlify. Deadline is my next invoice due date of June 26 at hosting company!

The only reason you're still using vim is because you haven't figured out how to exit the program. 😁

Crews are again turning off power to do some work on our little alley. This time they brought two new poles with them. As we walked away to a local coffee shop, they were attacking the base of a nearby pole with a long metal digging bar.

*This* could take awhile...

tfw your Christian friend makes yet another valiant attempt to persuade you to reconvert. :blobsad:

OK, so there's @mentions and #hashtags on the Fediverse, but does anyone know of social networks that expand on these?

I know Google Plus (RIP) used +mentions, but what about $ & etc.

Anyone? (boosts appreciated!)

Well *that* was some unpleasant business. I tell ya, nothing like a deadbeat son-in-law to pay you back for being a deadbeat son-in-law. FUCKING KARMA!

After setting up in WordPress then converting to now I am converting the whole thing to . What a clusterfuck of Metadata!!!

Got pissed at a forum mod and also ran into a bit of frustration changing themes with Hugo. Spent a few days exploring Vue, Gatsby, etc. Finally just went back to Hugo. Even grabbed a different theme and figured out the built-in custom css steps. As long as I don’t need the help forums, all good!

so getting my Hugo blog resurrected, refactored, re-repo'd on github and built/served by Netlify wasn't very painful at all. Almost easy. Free blog hosting. I create a markdown file, throw a few images into a folder, hit save, commit/push to github, and it automagically builds and serves.

It's things like this that cause me to think a lot higher of my technical skills than I should... lol

In science it often happens that scientists say, "You know that's a really
good argument; my position is mistaken," and then they actually change
their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really
do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are
human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot
recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion.

Maintenance scheduled on electricity today, 9-12. Got power back at 3:30. Could have been worse...

I am probably one of the few atheists you will ever know with a rich knowledge of Jesus Music history, artists and songs from the 70’s. Just sayin’ lol‬

man, if I'm not distro hoppin' I'm migrating my blogs to some new platform. Or an old one, in this case.

Got miffed at Grav's complexities, started looking around. A search landed me on Hugo and one particular theme, and I thought *Hey, wait - don't I already have my site up on Github using this theme? Yes, I did. Archived from four years ago. Soon to be resurrected via Netlify.

moving to my own VPS is (of course) taking more time than I anticipated. However, after escaping the CyperPanel/OpenLiteSpeed swamp, I am rather enjoying setting up Webmin/Virtualmin even with Cloudflare oddities. Main site done, now for the rest!

New PC - dropped the slightly oversized box (mini-ITX board) and went mini - Zotac Zbox. Very small, super-quiet fan. About $150. Could have saved money if I had known it came with 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive! Took my existing 240GB SSD with Linux Mint and moved it over and it just worked without any tweaks!

to further my digital minimalism goals, I am downsizing my desktop. Will be selling my TrueBasix case w/ ECS mini-itx mobo and replacing it with a Zotec Zbox running an Intel J2900 Pentium quad-core CPU (2.41GHz) and Nvidia GEForce GT 730 GPU. Physical space reduction of about 85%!!!
