Getting ready to shift back to Flickr, at least for most of my travel blog photos. Reviewed all the apps I gave permissions to over the last 12 years. Evidently damn near 60! Half are probably out of business by now. Sheesh.

Now playing at the Lake Chapala HQ - Mix - Nu Acid Jazz Essential Grooves - (no link - it's on YT)

I wonder if Masto devs truly understand that the most common usage of the word 'toot' in the U.S. is in reference to a fart?

well my linux peeps will be proud of me. I have now explored the darker reaches of sed and awk and have become familiar with perlexpr search and replace syntax. Hell, what's next? Spacemacs?

wow - so evidently the flat file CMS world is just a total wasteland. Outside of a few major players, everything else I find was last updated 2-4 years ago. WTF?

So - "finally" got the Pi back on the web. But in the process of troubleshooting I removed nginx, switched back to Apache, and also uninstalled everything . Yes, now that I figured out the problems I *could* reinstall it. But, damn that feels like a lot of work after all the headache I just went through. It's bad enough being my own sysadmin for a couple of web sites. But Pleroma is all Elixir/Erlang/Phoenix/all kinds of shit I am completely unfamiliar with. I think I'm good for now...

I am so psyched about re-starting DJ Harvey's : Let's die out together in a couple of weeks. Actually buzzzziiiing. 🎶

Hey @lain - since will be frequently installed on Pi - maybe mention git as a prerequisite - it's not installed by default on Raspbian Stretch Lite - which I am using since I run Pi headless - k thnx :)

Pi resurrected! Updating everything, then to the reinstallations... first!

Random thought, re Pleroma hate Show more

oh THAT'S how we got a Croatia, oh ew, also, yeah, um, let's skip the mid-1990s

welp, I did it. I hosed my Pi. 😭 Evidently it doesn't like the 'Buster' version of Raspbian (Debian 10). So I get to reinstall the image, set up Pleroma again, reinstall a couple of blogs. Man, that's just some fun shit right there .....

it's like everyone keeps forgetting that the alt-right NoAgenda crowd is running a Mastodon instance with almost 4000 users. I'm not sure all of has that many users total. Let's keep it real, people.

PSA: if a user habitually boosts stuff you don't want to see, you can turn off boosts just for them without unfollowing them

view their profile in the regular masto UI and you'll see a "Hide boosts from X" in the hamburger menu

this can make the whole experience a lot less annoying, but it's not well-known!

tfw someone publicly rants about #pleroma being full of 'anime nazis' and pedophiles, but then when you ask for proof, they say "not my job - stop pestering me with this stuff" - what the holy hell?

OK, so - now what? How exactly have all these pedos and nazis been hiding? What is their secret Pleroma instance? How have I been missing them? Because I would definitely virtually punch them and would definitely block them. But how can I do that if I can't fucking find them?
Just please... I don't want to fee it anymore. Both ostatus and ap are bad protocols for privacy. They don't ensure it, they just hope that the other server cooperates. Please, don't share REALLY private stuff on fedi, use matrix or xmpp or pgp, with proper encryption. This isn't a Pleroma problem or a mastodon problem, it's a problem in the protocol and that won't change in the near future.
