@KevinCarson1 @abbycakes hmm, sassenachs was about when I lost it. P-Celtic and Q-Celtic, you know.

@KevinCarson1 @abbycakes White's Arthurian books! Used to love the earliest novels, the backstory if you wish, but lost interest.
Did he pick up steam and focus? Haven't bothered buying them in years.

Daughter popped in to inform me she's staying in town w her friends after school, bc they're going to the theater. Farenheit 451..
I made sure she had charger, bus pass, reminded her to eat something and promised to save some dinner. Wished her a good time. "I will" and she swooshed out the door like a medium sized autumn storm, leaves dancing in her wake.

Sometimes you have to acknowledge the monsters are turning out rather well. And yes, they're loved.

So wonderful!
My Froglet not only finished a book tonight, he ricochetted into my room and wanted to go to the bookshop tomorrow to buy part 2.

Now, I told him he had school, but before he deflated completely, I promised I'd try pick it up while running errands. The bright sunny smile was relit, and he zoomed back to bed.
Joy of reading is so important.

Which means two things:
I will be shovelling paper tomorrow, too, metaphorically speaking
and I'm drooling over the perfect rug
Which is a bit pricy, and I have several quite ok area rugs

Temptations are horrible

Rearranged my living room - turned out fine. Which meant I'm two hours behind on filing paperwork

@Flip @Stonekettle He looks like he's wearing cute eye shadow. Puts me in mind of whatshername Tris(?) in Blade Runner.

@KnotKnormal In Swedish sir/ma'am/miss sounds slightly stilted and off. You express politeness mainly by dropping references to persons or using some passive construction.
Otoh we don't have the word "please" either - I have to stay alert when in an English speaking country not to slip up

@stillinhere I'm plenty adventurous but always return to base.
As for Brexit/the EU I voted for us to join and haven't changed my mind since.
But for me it's sheer rationality

@Boudicca I'm just showing off to the other parents tbh.

Guns don't kill people the way that uncapped markers around toddlers don't lead to scribbled walls.

Oh wait.

*snark*
A mid-twenties guy behind me in line in the grocery store adressed me as 'Miss' when asking a question today.
I stayed polite. But I'm about 30 years older than anyone normally called that. 'Ma'am' maybe? I do answer to 'Excuse me?' too.

Still sniggering slightly

@stillinhere Age is (mostly) just a number. Sounds like settling down

@tisch yum! Cake-type loaf or sandwich-type?

@tisch Tomorrow is National Cinnamon Roll Day, just saying.

*hands Tisch a bib*

In a weak moment I promised cinnamon rolls for the monsters' school classes.

Better make more coffee, I'll be stuck here all afternoon octodon.social/media/hb5uxWz3Z

I just got a new stereo in my Jeep, in case you hear a doppler shifted Jimi Hendrix go screaming past.

@Stonekettle Time to plan a John Carpenter marathon
