This has been a weird day.
I just completed the Private Eye crossword! New PB.
Now to read it and find out how idiots with money are ruining our society.🙃
After death, an angel gave her a paper.
"Write your sins."
She wrote small, and filled it.
The angel held a book. "We wrote your kindness."

Just found out @MicroSFF is on Mastodon. Recommended.
New Firefox seems pretty good so far, although the square tabs are kind of ugly
@ajroach42 I've enjoyed Kimiko Ishizaka's Bach... CC0 I think http://music.kimiko-piano.com/
@ajroach42 The Well-tempered Clavier.
Rhapsody in Blue
Woot, I have now made a working CloudFormation template to spin up an EC2 instance with a custom subdomain on my main domain name with PHP and NGinX installed and running. All I need now is auto-TLS configuration.
@kuokkanen I have been excellent boy and is nearly old new year.
Yes, this is a Soviet board game called ”Cooperative”. When you buy all the three businesses of a given field, like recycling or repair of electronics, you can invest in production lines to profit more. The board includes a rock recycling business. 🤔There is no prison, just a square named ”holiday”. This sounds a bit suspicious, since one of the lucky chance cards is a ”get out of holiday” card. 😳

Quote from this week's Economist: "The population of America farts 3m times a minute. It likes things on Facebook about 4m times a minute."
FACEBOOK: BIGGER THAN FARTS

Not that I think in a million years that any kind of user strike activity would get FB, G or T to change anything significant. Because their entire business model from the ground up is based on selling ads.
Mostly I'm keen to drive people to user-supported social media, like Mastodon, Dreamwidth, Wordpress, even NeoCities.org (which is so cool).
All I am saying here isis, if you want a non-toxic user experience: make sure you're the customer, not the product / worker.
Why yes, I hadn't done it right, thanks to the interface on namecheap not being obvious as to how to commit the changes.
Now all is working though.
DNS Nameserver changes take ages to propagate! It's a nice example of speed being part of usability: I might not have done it right, but I have a 48 hour window to guess/second-guess.
@matiu_bidule @julm This is good, and you should feel good.
Telling people to switch to Linux is perceived as brutal as telling a person owning a Peugeot to get a Ford
Anyway if you want to save the world, join a union (like Précaires Solidaires) to help people to sleep under a roof. You're welcome there if you need help too.
It's legitimate to generalise from few samples: you are not a statistician*. It's legitimate to say "those may not be representative".
It's OK to need proof. It's OK to believe without: you are not a courtroom.
It's good to forgive people. It's good to hold people to account.
Who generalises what, and who demands proof from whom, and who forgives whom, is a good way to cut through bullshit and dog whistles to get to what people really think.

Mastodon users, new and old:
You can add a caption, or alt-text, to images you toot!
These captions make your toots more accessible, by giving people who can't see the image a description of what's in the image.
Just hover over the image over you attach it and type a description in the spot that says "Describe for the visually impaired" before you hit the TOOT! button.
Please also encourage Mastodon app authors to add caption functionality. And please boost. Thanks!
