It has nothing to do with capacity for empathy. I think it has more to do with the fact that Western upper middle class women have typically been expected to devote their efforts and freetime to charity work. It's just a continuation of a cultural expectation of women.
Girls Who Code is pretty much garbage TBH. "I don't want to make sweeping generalizations. One of the things I think I have found that is uniquely female is our empathy." Please stop tying my so-called "feminine traits" to my ability to code.

Just finished "Dynamite! A History of Class Violence." A little dry in the first half, but the second half was so good I read it in a day. It was written in '31, but as far as I could tell it's still solid as a rock. There's some dispute over the Molly Maguires in the first chapter, but that's it. I kept wiki-ing, because so much of it is un-fucking-believable.

It's ONLY covered extensively in every high school history class, with one of the largest body of academic works, memorialized by preserved battlegrounds, highly acclaimed documentaries running on every non-fic TV channel, with several upcoming alt-history fictional TV shows, subject of countless biographies... /sarcasm
