Went to see Blade Runner 2049 last week, really enjoyed it. Lots of problematic aspects but still really loved it. http://www.susanhatedliterature.net/2017/10/blade-runner-2049/

I enjoyed it too. Agreed on problematic - women fare very poorly in the film. The benefit of casting Jared Leto is the viewer can hit the ground running with pre-existing distaste in place (imo). Solid science fiction that is a little heavy handed when presenting an IDEA that it REALLY wants the audience to engage with. Would watch again - thanks for your review!

Thanks, Wobbuffet - I don't get over to FanFare as much as maybe I should! Still reading through the thread there, but definitely great discussion and lots of points I agree with.

I'm going to have to see this dumb movie at some point. It is disappointing to hear that it isn't much better about women than the original. Blade Runner is one of my favorites, but at this point we should really have a thoughtful, attractive SF movie that isn't crap about women.

@dearbhla @scottschuman @jjray I really appreciated the Fanfare comments on BR2049 by codacorolla and Calzephyr. And my feeling is most Leto scenes were superfluous build-up for that *big spoiler to describe* scene
