so umm ya. Disc golf, but the bucket is 91 feet below the tee. Par 3. Wowzers.
I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.
wow, a referee gets ejected for fighting. Never seen that before.

@deafferret ha. Reminds me of that old William F Buckley quote https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/william_f_buckley_jr_400600
Months later, still reflecting on this cowboy wisdom:
Lloyd: Get a hold of the rein before you take the rope off. At least you are starting to walk like a cowboy.
Jimmy: I don’t think I’m cut out for this.
Lloyd: Nobody is, Jimmy. It’s gotta be cut into you.
huh, fascinating. Movement to replace all politicians with "democratic lotteries" https://joinofbyfor.org/
@deafferret I'm assuming they mean streaming using their home internet? If so you can utilize the feature to take advantage of external storage providers to offload the bandwidth requirements, then you only need to serve it once, not once per viewer: https://owncast.online/docs/storage/
Otherwise, yeah, throw Owncast on a VPS somewhere that does have a pool of transfer traffic you can utilize, at faster upload speeds. For $5/mo you can run it on Linode and get 1TB of transfer.
@gabek over in my Discord my friend was trying to understand Owncast. His question:
The concern I ran into is that I cannot serve my stream to multiple people with my available Internet plans. So I guess the solution would be to either purchase a solution on my own or share one to host multiple Owncast streams, right?
History and speculation
First line of an article,
"We live in a time in which gambling and speculative excess are at the heart of our society more so than perhaps any point in living history." https://www.stephendiehl.com/blog/banbitcoin.html
and WOW this writer hasn't read much about the 1600s, or the 1700s, or the 1800s, or the 1900s huh? Bitcoin is 🥱 compared to railroads 🚂, telegraphs -..-, etc.! (The one book I read on this: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1458370.Engines_That_Move_Markets)
(But yeah 🤦 crypto.)
CHS was once the largest hospital chain in America. It's still in the top ten. It has bought and destroyed hospitals across the country, paid millions to its executives, and sued the shit out of its patients.
Tell me again about how the private sector does a great job running the health-care system?
