Software is like an onion. If you open up the inner layers you start crying

I only knew this song existed via a science cover that I didn't know was a cover:

lol Black Books S3E5 — the book shop building owner dies, leaves the property to her cat. Bernard argues with the lawyer about the cat. Later, Bernard is found reading a thick book titled "Cats and the Law"

Only 600 more miles to the "Earth Diameter" lifetime achievement badge (7900 miles).
Now that there's no cheap fitbits and I'm happy with this cheap fatbit, we'll see if this fitbit zip lasts long enough for me to get that badge...

lol The Strongest Padlock in the World (Seriously) — Squire Stronghold SS100CS
Rated for 10 minutes of angle grinder w 3 replacement wheels and 1 replacement battery; or fire 100 rounds of armor piercing ammo into it. It weighs twice as much as the US Military uses to secure their shit
or... ya know, just spend 3 minutes picking it, like this:

Ha Gödel's incompleteness theorems remind me of a billion years ago when I was a Philosophy major and decided my masters thesis was going to be "this is all bullshit." Academic mic drop.

"I use Linux as my operating system," I stated proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. He swiveled around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision. "Actually," he said with a grin, "Linux is just the kernel. You use GNU+Linux!" I don't miss a beat and reply with a smirk: "I use Abyss, a distro that doesn't include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. It's Linux, but not GNU+Linux."

The smile quickly drops from the man's face. His body began convulsing, he foamed at the mouth, and he dropped to the floor with a sickly thud. As he writhed around he screamed, "I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT'S STILL GNU!" In a cool fashion, I replied "Abyss uses the LLVM compiler suite, GCC uninvolved."

With a sickly wheeze, the last of the man's life was ejected from his body. He lied on the floor, cold and limp. I've womansplained him to death.

Attn: US citizens living outside of the US

There is a new law that says you must specifically request your ballot *every* year. If you want to vote in the primaries or the general election, you must request your ballot.

You can do so very easily via this website:

It requires you to know your registration information and to upload a signature. Takes 5-10 minutes.

It's run by Democrats Abroad but will work for members of any or no party.

My friend said The Booth at the End was his favorite TV show in high school. I had never heard of it. Last night I binged the entire series.

When the writing + acting is this good characters never even have to leave a booth in a diner. For 3.5 hours. Riveting.

If you told me I'd watch 3.5 hours of dialogue in a diner booth I would have laughed at you.

@teslas_moustache I just found a site, run by Software Freedom Law Centre, India, and it's an internet shutdown tracker for the country.

Ha! The Expanse Season 4 is amazing. And wraps up with Klaes Ashford doing 2 super powerful (floating baby! OMG!) artistic readings of the lyrics of Captain Kidd that I know from the Kansas City pirate shanty band The Jolly Rogers, Googling of which led me to this new to me podcast feed where he interviews the band:
