After 14.5 years I had to say goodbye to Minnie this morning. Tipper and Minnie were good dogs, we were lucky to have them in our lives for so long. ❤️
Ironically, *I* just started strict paleo again (processed sugars BAD) to drop 40 pounds so an elective medical thing can get re-scheduled... wheee!
A 5th medication has joined the old sick dog arsenal: syrup to fight hypoglycemia.
I have put in thousands of hours on my poetry generator over the past three years. Thousands. It gets rough, sometimes I feel like I should get rid of the whole thing and simply write poems on my own.
But every so often, the computer writes something for me that makes it all worthwhile. Like tonight, when it gave me this line:
I see everyone on here talking about their difficulties and challenges and you're all such sweethearts. I just want to wrap you all in bubbles so the world can't hurt you. 80 foot tall bubbles... Made of steel... With arms and legs and advanced missile systems and laser eyes... Wait I'm thinking of mechs. I want to wrap you all in mechs.
She can't chase (lung problems) but she's glad the nurse rabbit keeps checking in.
You should watch the Vox Border series. Amazing stories of how we out-group each other. Rich in history and the mind blowing impacts on peoples lives today. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJ8cMiYb3G5eYGt47YpJcNhILyYLmV-tW
Hi Mastodon. My husband and I are heavily considering getting a dog. I have many concerns (baby on the way, money, etc) but ACTUALLY my biggest concern is Fivel (one of our two cats). 😅 I don’t know how he will react to a dog. He can get aggressive towards strangers and I worry about him hurting a dog.
Any advise on how we could prepare our cats or get them used to a dog? Or maybe somehow test-run how they respond to a dog before we get one?
When you leave CostCo you have to present your receipt and an employee carefully looks it over and looks in your basket and then highlights it -- you can now leave the store.
I accidentally did a security audit. I handed them the wrong receipt (from Menards). They stared at it thoughtfully, looked in my basket, highlighted it, let me leave.
So, ya. They're not actually looking at the receipt at all. #l33thaX0rz
twitch.tv: another dude is changing a valve cover in his car. 323 people are watching him even though you can't see anything (just the back of his t-shirt) and there's constant super loud wind noise.
twitch.tv: I'm watching 494 people watch a girl watching videos of herself streaming a video game to hundreds of people.
Have we reached peak Internet? Crazy kids.
Huh. Hard to know who actually needs financial support I could offer and scams.
I have a lot of compassion, which makes me an easy mark for the, what, 100,000(?) full time Internet grifters?
I'm a big fan of the relative safety of the vetting process of Kiva (for example) https://www.kiva.org/lender/jhannah but their model isn't viable for all situations of financial need.
And "Over 10,000 people start campaigns on GoFundMe every day". Ooof.
Old doge update: She now only eats Kirkland Signature Premium Cut Cured & Dried Beef Steak Strips (chopped into tiny bits).
Fresh cooked bacon? No sir.
Is this actually a dog?
Octodon is a nice general purpose instance.
