@kev_mcg That is super cool! Sounds like a cool project. I'm a big fan of Node.js and Express. Doing backend stuff is my favorite. I just want to make APIs for someone else to connect a frontend to. Good luck with it.

@kev_mcg I know what you mean. Social networks have always felt like places where everyone is yelling into the void that is the internet. But, I think that is outweighed by the importance of expressing oneself.

Happy to see @ohhoe is here. It is cool to see more and more interesting folks joining.

@kev_mcg Those are good words. It is important to post on social media about the things you care about. Whether it is politics, sports, or tacos, post about what makes you happy and / or think.

As someone who doesn't always know what to "say" on social media, and since we're all awkwardly getting used to Mastodon together, here's the best advice I've ever read about social media from the wise Buster Benson from a few years ago.

@tcql Those are pretty good odds. Though I didn't do much with it I had one.

@archaicartist Hello! The layout is a little odd to get used to, but it is pretty enjoyable here so far. It feels like what social networks are supposed to be like.

This feels like the sort of place where Person A says "thing" and Person B says "actually, not thing, here is evidence X" and Person A says "Oh, interesting, I guess I had that wrong!" and then they go get a pizza together.

@lusitania Oh yeah, baseball is my favorite sport. Congrats on the Cubs getting the series last year. As heart breaking as it was for me as a Giants to see them get knocked out I take solace it was by the team that eventually one the whole thing.

@BeansWater It does sound like a lot of work now that I think about it. Oh well.

@ChristianD Me too. It always seems to be that way that tech minded folks like programmers are the first to join a new thing as they likely hear about it first and check it out to see if they can build anything cool with it. I hope this place sticks around. I like it a lot so far.

@BeansWater Oh no. That sucks. At least that could be pretty cool in the summertime to watch tv outside, maybe?

I'm also still really loving the idea of tooting on my couch while I watch tv.

I didn't see there is an tag.
My name is David and I live in Seattle. My wife and I are originally from the San Francisco bay Area in California. I like to write code and make coffee. My favorite sports are baseball and soccer. Favorite teams are the SF Giants and the Seattle Sounders respectively.
Feel free to say hello!

Anybody build anything cool today? What's something that you're working on that makes you super excited?

@Owlbert Dang! That sounds rough. Maximum relaxing sounds like it should be in order.

@dnlongen Agreed. I've seen several people say the same thing. It is oddly enough one of my favorite features here.

Greetings Tooters! I've been away all day. Has this become an unimaginable cesspool of humanity or are we still safe? :no_mouth:
