rogue keyboard on Linux

Anyone whose Corsair keyboard utterly refuses to type a hashtag character?
--> ‘ instead of @ (now on AltGr-Q)
--> ’ instead of hashtag (**nowhere** on the keyboard)
Also, Alt+NNN for keycodes does **not** work. Dunno if it did, always used AltGr etc.
Tried `dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration` and all alternative settings. No way.
