I think I've posted about this before, but you know how it's nearly impossible to get a Beatles song licensed for your commercial, TV show or whatnot?
Well, it feels that EVERY SINGLE Japanese TV show plays a Beatles song at some point!!!
(if the Beatles lawyers ever learn of the existence of Japan, I think the country will be without a national TV within days)
@davidbilla last I knew (and I'm old and forgetful), Sony actually owned most of the rights to that catalog. Maybe that has something to do with it?
@czmilosz They do, but why would they be affordable for Japanese TV, and not the rest of the world?
(be careful, before you respond "because Sony is a Japanese company", the rights belong to Sony Music which is an American company)
