"Most modern browsers... have vulnerabilities that allow hosts of malicious websites to extract hundreds to thousands of URLs in a user’s web history, per new research from the University of California San Diego...

The only browser that was immune to the attacks was Tor Browser"

Yup, sounds about right.

Mark Miller wrote a very nice tribute on that page. Another nice tribute is Mark's introduction to Norm's keynote at last year's ocap conference. If you don't watch the talk, the first few minutes of Mark explaining the important of Norm's work is quite good

RIP Norm Hardy, brain behind much of our understanding of object capabilities.

Their website is still up, lots to learn from:

Some tributes here:

system still hasn't frozen yet is it fixed did I fix it please be yes

Really the only upside to @mlemweb and I being separated for four months is that she doesn't have to listen to me putting on's holiday music stations until the end of the year

plays the "nature zelda" all day

doesn't go outside

this makes sense

well I didn't do anything but play zelda today... erk

I resisted buying another proprietary console since the nintendo wii came out. That was well over a decade ago.

I caved. Bought a Switch and two games tonight (Mario & Zelda, how typical)

since I have an RSI, having a highly ergonomic keyboard is not really optional for me, but is an accessibility issue

fearing my kinesis keyboard is finally dying, after over a decade of use

really need to convert to a more principled and explicit rather than ad-hoc approach to my guix user profile... it's annoying to remember all the packages I installed

At least having my configuration for the guix system meant reinstalling all the system packages and doing system configuration was a a breeze

The Call for Participation for the #Decentralized Internet & #Privacy devroom at #fosdem2019 was published 🎉 It would be great to receive proposals from a diversity of people.

Please boost widely !

well I am up and running again

will find out if the problems are gone in time (whether random freeze or failures to boot occur, which they haven't yet)

Also, before I go offline to replace this thing, want to mention that I'll be at the Boston Lisp usergroup tonight (well, unless something goofy happens) Pretty exciting talk about migrating code there tonight by the Gambit Scheme main dev. Maybe see you there?

My laptop has been averaging instantly freezing up completely about once a day, and attempts to boot sometimes completely fail, taking up to 30 attempts at times. I did upgrade the disk in this machine myself; maybe it was bad. Attempting to reinstall with a new disk... hopefully that'll fix it.
