by slightly different I mean, you unscrew piece X then Y this time, then Z then Y then X next time

So here's what blows my mind, tearing apart 20+ spinning platter hard drives tonight: all though all of them have mostly roughly the same shape, they're all *slightly different* in their construction, and in the steps to take them apart.

Kind of satisfying... each one is a tiny, fairly easy puzzle ;)

@cwebber just fill your hdd with ants[1]!

[1] only works if your harddrive is made of ants

@cwebber well,... if ya have access to a sand pit, termite is usually less work, but,... it dooooesn't keep you in shape. 🤔

*DING DING DING*

"Oh hi neighbor! Uhm, don't mind me. I'm not crazy, even though I appear to be smashing the sidewalk with this sledgehammer. There's a hard drive platter there! Hence the bell noise! I do computer things where security matters sometimes...!"

*DING DING DING*

"... honestly, this is normal behavior, I promise!!!"

*DING DING DING*

by the way the answer is: 21 hard drives

now I remember why I just moved all my old computers with me every time

"I should finally not bring a giant pile of old computers with me just because I haven't bothered to destroy their old drives this time. I'll just gut all of them and see how many drives I have to destroy"

*pile of gutted metallic corpses to the side, beholding a tower of spinning platter babel*

"oh my god"

Apparently I can't email hotmail addresses anymore. My IP and domain aren't listed on spamhaus. I have no idea why I'm being rejected and I don't see any recourse to find out.

I hate the centralization of email :(

This would break the internet.

Imagine YouTube Content ID, but for everything: blog comments, tweets, Github commits, Instagram photos, replies to newspaper articles, rental listings, dating profiles.

Malware installed through DockerHub can also escape the container, so may continue to run.

Friends don't let friends install unreproducible black box container images.

Unix domain sockets are still perimeter security, but are a bit less likely to be exploited because many services may accidentally do http requests against localhost and won't realize how many things they can fuck up
