...is now available!
https://github.com/go-fed/presentations
This answers:
- Why create a library?
- What challenges are there when implementing ActivityPub?
- What challenges are specific to golang?
- What is go-fed and its future?
Most useful for those interested in:
- Background information.
- Implementing AP apps or libs
- Unique AP challenges in Go
- WTF is this cj person thinking
Note: This isn't a go-fed/activity tutorial (ETA: TBD).
@nightpool maybe time for me to switch back to erc...
@nightpool hexchat has been fucking up for me for a while and freezing a bunch causing lots of join/part spam
@brennen Another option is a design like tahoe-lafs's, but that's probably overkill
@brennen Look up:
- content addressed storage
- DIDs
They will add up better if they can find and connect and internetwork.

the linked data signatures spec needs to be split up into more modular components for the different suites to plug in their stuff but the good news is that I think after 2 implementations I think I understand how to do that and can probably write that spectext once I get around to it

@HerraBRE I agree with that!
BTW my next post that appeared to be a subtoot of this was well, partly in response to it, but also equally to about 20 different threads I've seen over the last month :)
We can do these things in parallel, and we can take the various victories we can get, and we won't know on which track they will come. But they will add up.
I find a lot of my disagreements with fellow activists are about "X is *more important* than Y for winning our cause". Usually they aren't mutually exclusive, and to really win, we usually need X *and* Y. To get there, we need a diverse set of contributor types and to value all.
@HerraBRE I absolutely agree about protecting crypto, but I don't agree about not fighting the political fight. We should build tech that's as immune to bad laws as possible under the veil of crypto, but that's only so possible. These aren't mutually exclusive... fighting bad laws / fighting for good ones should happen in tandem with building good tech.
