The right-wing has been no-platforming at Stanford, and in clearly unethical ways. Niall Fergusson, prominent republican known for saying some really crappy things, has now been forced to resign from a campus organization that invited and promoted speakers because of his behavior.

How can we learn more about what you've done if the paper isn't published? Have you blogged about it anywhere? It sounds interesting.
Do not have sex with a man as you would have sex with a woman.
Also, do not have sex with a man as you would have sex with someone of any other gender. Or any other man, really.
Your sex partners are individuals, people: don’t generalize from gender to anything about your sexual relationships and how they are or should be, especially not consent.
Want a place to start reading Pervert Justice? One of my best pieces is on the One Drop Rule from the perspective of slaves and free Black residents of the US instead of the perspective of slave owners and segregationists.
If you want to understand why white pride is fundamentally different from Black pride, you can try on this perspective:

Switzerland's private money managers are giving money to people who kill their spouses because Swiss law doesn't require central reporting of domestic violence killings. An RTS article cites pension funds, but the problem exists with insurance companies and some banks as well.
pics or it didn't happen!
Capitalism vs. Socialism is an old fight, but curiously Al Jazeera doesn't see it as particularly relevant to Venezuela's ongoing troubles, at least on the national level. Instead, they believe that certain aspects of Venezuelan culture combine badly with an economy founded on a single, internationally-traded commodity (oil).
I try to draw a bit of insight from their lengthy analysis in my most recent post:

Wearing shoes in late spring and summer is no way to go through life.
Portant des chaussures à la fin du printemps ou en été n'est pas la mode de ceux qui aiment la vie
The pu-er process is also cool in that all the work is done by mold. They wet the leaves after initial processing (to turn it into green tea or black tea or oolong), blow mold spores over the wet leaves, let the mold grow for weeks -> months.
The mold eats the bittering agents but not the other flavors. They dry it, the mold turns to spores. They blow air over it to remove the spores & voila!
You can also tell your friends you paid extra for the mold :)
If it's worth it to you, you can also buy "pu-er" teas (spelling will sometimes vary slightly). They go through a special process invented in & around the Himalayas that removes the battering agents - you can steep them as long as you like and they never become bitter. Also? They hold their freshness longer.
The secret to unsweetened tea is to use controlled, short steepings. For the first 2 minutes or so, the flavor seeps out ahead of the bitterness. But every tea has a point beyond which the bitterness starts rapidly catching up.
Some cheap teas will have the bitter seep out sooner (allowing only 60-90 seconds for a flavor steep), but the vast majority will give you a good 2 min. Be careful with the timing & you won't need sugar!
Thanks for the welcome! People have been nice so far. It's cool to know that someone reads my blog. I haven't done any promotion of it before now, so readership is pretty low and I feel amazed to run across folks here who actually know it!
The Associated Press is reporting on the sentencing of a UK man for terroristic threats against local LGBT folks - which is a good subject for reporting - by equating autism with a tendency to violence - which is worse than bad.

There's a "new" argument against Jesus' resurrection, but it relies on shifting the burden of proof, personal incredulity, and dubious deductions. Skeptics shouldn't use it.

@clew
The thing about not making unilateral use of someone's attention helps. Thanks.
Any hashtags you recommend?
Thanks for the welcome!
I guess one of my main questions is if it's bad to use an account for publicizing blog posts. Social faux pas, maybe?
I'd be honored if you'd check out Pervert Justice. It's not well-read, but I like to think it has value commenting on issues of race, gender, law enforcement, jurisprudence, legislation, politics, and general justice.
How does one generally get to know people around here? Just reading the Home timeline?
I'll likely mostly be using this address as a way to publicize posts from my insignificant blog Pervert Justice over on FreethoughtBlogs.
At least at first.
I'm certainly open to other conversations, it's just not having used any platform similar to mastodon/twitter before, I'm not sure what those conversations might be like or how frequently I might join them.
Awoo?
I guess #introductions is the accepted tag for letting folks know someone new has joined the instance?
I'm not a twitter migrant, I'm a late 40s woman who never trusted twitter & facebook enough to join, but has been thinking about joining mastodon since @pzmyers mentioned it a while back.
