@vickylai Interested in the solution as I recently turned off Disqus and haven't found a suitable replacement.

@Are0h Hope they can find their pocketbook. 😀

@Are0h So, do they get to pound sand or eat crow? Because that sounds awesome.

@paulfree14 @jeroenpraat Please re-read your postings to Maloki and tell me in all honesty that wasn't what you were suggesting. Be honest with yourself.

I'm stepping out of this conversation because now we're picking apart perception and no good can come from telling others how things were perceived.

Wishing you every kindness.

Showing up to a project and telling folks they're not using tools that you feel they should be using is akin to showing up to a protest and refusing to participate because you can't stand the smell of the markers.

@paulfree14 @jeroenpraat Perhaps it's a cultural thing; the way I read it was that your belief as that the project should grind t a complete halt until all of the infrastructure for handling communications could be completely FLOSS.

Nevermind that most of the folks involved with the project were part of the Mastodon project and already had Discord accounts; thereby providing a low-friction place for this to get organized.

That's akin to stopping the protest because you don't like the markers..

@paulfree14 @jeroenpraat If you choose to accept it that way, then that's what I'm saying.

But what I'm really saying is complaining about how the meal is prepared is not kind to the host. And if you're worried about the preparation then perhaps you shouldn't be at a restaurant in the first place.

Data structure (over)design as a form of procrastination

I love Open Source Software. I pay money to the FSF. I've been using Linux full-time since 1994-5.

I worked for Sourceforge from 2008-2010. When the site burped while I was on-call it was me up at 3am making sure shit was working again.

I run my own servers. I serve my own email.

And yet there are certain services that I would rather other folks run because I don't enjoy being a full-time administrator.

Sometimes I just want to get shit done as best I can.

Bias toward free, but pragmatic.

friendly reminder that not everyone has the time and/or the technical knowledge and/or the will to learn to use that software you consider to be the definitive solution to certain situation

and i can't believe i have to explicitly say this but

you shouldn't shame them for that.

@platypus I like this; it makes the Korean war sound like a teenager that just hit puberty.

@zigg I respect the bravery, and admire your dedication to this pursuit. You're a good man and will be missed. :)

I stand corrected, the air quality alert starts at noon.

It's 11:11 right now, so I'm sure the 45 or so minutes will make a large difference.

@cwebber Well, yeah, metaphorically speaking of course.

(hides the tumbler and funnel.)

@dansup Is this in planning or in progress? Because this would be awesome.
