I love how I can consider something like Open Metalcast to be part of my identity and something that I rarely shut up about and yet there are folks whom I consider to be friends who still don't know that I do a podcast.
@craigmaloney someone told me the other day that i was letting being chronically ill subsume my identity (in the context of suggesting my treatment include therapy) and I had to point out the full extent of our relationship revolved around her handling my school accommodations for my chronic illness
It was very strange to be reminded that random people who know very little about you will build a whole picture of you in their head that you cant see
Just goes to show folks that what you think is core to your identity might not be core to what others think of you.
