Hi, I'm Craig Maloney. I've developed on computers since the 1980s. Currently developing in Python and playing around with JavaScript / Scheme. Also working on some game designs for Pepper&Carrot and some other ideas. I love classic video games, tabletop RPGs (Fate, Gumshoe, Talislanta, GURPS, 13th Age, etc.), and board games. I host a Creative Commons Metal podcast, and have opinions on many things.
Ask me anything.
@craigmaloney @HufflepuffBR For playing? The best I can do is the Star Realms app ATM (craigmaloney). For developing? That depends.

@HufflepuffBR Sadly my schedule is a little goofy at the moment. I might need some playtesters for my designs at some later point, but for now I sadly must decline.
What goes into a game design?
@roxmsauce What I've found is a lot of playtesting makes a design. I've started with a few crazy little ideas for dice games that I thought would work and ultimately found didn't work because they resulted in (at best) stalemates and unfun play.
There's also creativity involved in game design but there's also a tendency to try to "slap a new coat of theme on an existing set of mechanics".
I haven't released an original game (I'm using other mechanics) so I hope to answer that question soon :)
Ah, cool, thanks! ❤
@craigmaloney You have free time today, don't you? ;-)
@mwlucas I don't have nearly the notoriety as a certain well-respected FreeBSD and fiction writer so I won't get nearly as many questions. 😁
@craigmaloney Never felt any need to do an AMA. People ask me random crap all the time anyway.
@mwlucas I think they're afraid of the answers. 🤣
@craigmaloney you say the nicest things.
@craigmaloney are you avaliable for games.
