The thing that annoyed me the most with my school is that because we had to code in C and later C++ and that libs were forbidden and that we only had a limited set of authorized functions, so the biggest part of every project was to write a fucking parser for EVERYTHING and everybody who ever did C knows it's a pain in the ass

(we also had to get 0 memory leak)

@Siphonay That sounds pretty cool, actually. Ours was trying a DoD curriculum so we're the only folks I know of that played with Modula 2 and Ada. Not exactly translatable skills. :)

@craigmaloney writing parsers is pretty cool until it's the thing that you have to do over and over and that it takes most of your time

@Siphonay @craigmaloney forbidding libraries is total nonsense. At art school, teachers always encouraged us to use industrial readymade painting, not to build our own.
