In Michigan the main centers for COVID-19 are in the K-12 schools.

One again were mortgaging our children's futures in the hopes that it will somehow save our asses.

Just remember that there are no 100% safe contact zones, not even with a vaccination.

We're still under the shadow of this pandemic and will remain there for a while.

Putting unvaccinated children and young adults together is just asking for trouble, no matter how many precautions you're taking.

@craigmaloney The local school board here in New Hampshire has also been incredibly eager to return to fully open schools and there are now a couple dozen kids and a few teachers in quarantine. Just insane.

@craigmaloney We've been lucky in that our kid is too young for school yet, but I've seen the "letters to the editor" 'round here. There is a contingent of parents that really want school to open. I empathize with a lot of it. Many parents are struggling to make ends meet and very stressed out. When you start to look at it, you realize we just have inadequate support for families here, and sadly school's daycare function is possibly more important than its educational function. :/

@cstanhope @craigmaloney I would submit that school's day care function is it's only real function, unless you consider beating the curiosity out of children and teaching them to bow down to authority count as functions.

@freakazoid @cstanhope It's definitely the function that most folks focus on, at least from an economic perspective.
