Saw posts in birdland that there is some sort of security concern with Mastadon. Anyone have a link with the current issues people are worried about?

Anyone on here a publisher of any kind? I'm 1/3 of the way through writing a book and want to get it published when I'm done. It's about clinical psychology theory.

Maybe it's the infosec in me, but I don't trust a single instance, not even this one?
I could come up with 50 million technical ways to do it (blockchains, lol), but with so many new users migrating over so quickly, it would be more effective to discuss ideas about safety.

Suddenly have this urge to setup 5 instances, put a chat bot on them that talk only to each other, and watch the horror. I remember doing that back in IRC days but chat bot code has come so far.

I went on a Easter egg hunt at work today. But with kittens. They had scattered and hidden themselves in many weird places. Luckily they were squeaking for their momma so I could gather them and return them to here.

I think I've seen more mentions of Linux in a couple of days on Mastodon than I've seen in 8 years on Twitter.
So far I'm into how much Mastodon feels like every fictional dystopic cyberpunk BBS - the blooming politics of federations and collective vaporwave + witch + hacker imagery helps a lot. I'm living my own fantasy.
The real value add of Mastodon is giving everyone an excuse to finally put something on all the weird domains they've been squatting
