#seattle dancers and never-tried-it might-like-to-dancers: I'm hosting a low-key free intro to partner dance, waltz, maybe polka, this Friday the 15th. Followed by a DJd dance with the energetic travelling versions of those dances -- if you like East Bay Waltz, or Friday Night Waltz, we need you!
Not dress-up, no partner or experience needed, we aim to teach enough that you know if you'd like it before you get bored.

For odd reasons I’m reading Drucker’s Concept of the Corporation (1946).
What he explains well is that in a culture trained to view job and economic advancement as the only source of dignity, inevitably the majority would experience corporate working life as demoralising.
I think we could have paid more attention to this bit.
My new personal rule: Unless the actual, physical, IRL plants are watered I am not allowed to play Stardew Valley. 🤔 🙃

Sittin' around trying to come up with a list of female trickster heroes. I can come up with exactly one whom I'd fully buy as a trickster, and she's not even famous for the story of being a trickster -- Dido, who founded Carthage on as much land as could be covered by an oxhide.
I could be persuaded about Penelope. And I guess Loki isn't male full-time. Hmph.
Finished! ...well, as finished as it's going to get. Wanted to keep this exercise fairly rough and loose. Dunno what it was about this lady, only had a plain stock photo to work from, but I really dug painting her.
I also recorded the painting process as an experiment, just to see how it might turn out - anyone interested in a speedy video of this one?

#Seattle dancers: this Friday is an hour's class in mazurka clandestina taught by Richard Powers and Angela Renae Amarillas, followed by two hours of DJd dancing. It's like a gentle tango waltz to the classic Polish rhythm. Yeah, that's a lot of styles to put together, but it works. Details at http://www.broadwaywaltz.com .
