I've been using #Emacs for years now, always at a very basic level (major modes for CSV, Python, Markdown, and a bit of magit.. Orgmode too, but I'm not a daily user) , and I still can't understand how package management should be done in order to maintain sanity. use-package seems great, except for all packages that won't work with it.

You can get a free ebook copy of Martha Wells new book Murderbot from Tor if you sign up to be on their mailing list. Wells wrote the Raksura series. This book is the start of a series about a bored AI who hacked their own governor module, likes to watch movies and read books and isn't a very good killer. PS. Anne Leckie likes the book.
Hm, well, I'm leaving the house now, so I guess it's too late; I'll try to give the ticket away there. #Seattle
Geneticists reverse engineer DNA of the first black Icelander, who left no remains

Tiniest #Seattle meetup: I have a spare ticket for the Seattle Baroque Orchestra at 2:30 pm TODAY, downtown. Anyone interested? It will be mostly best pieces by minor composers, with some Telemann, looks like: http://www.earlymusicseattle.org/events/seattle-baroque-orchestra-splendor-of-dresden/
I was cleaning in an older relatives' house with a turntable and LPs, many familiar from my youth. HOT TAKE: LPs are a natural Pomodoro technique. Start a side, do a thing. When the click-hiss at the center bugs you, wash your hands, have a drink, turn over the record, d.c.a.f.
I feel like I should be able to get this on Lifehacker.
me> if all your friends jumped off a bridge would you follow them?

Imagine if every American got their own #Unix shell account from the Post Office, and young students looked forward to the day in third grade when the local neighborhood sysadmin would come in and teach them the basics.
I recognize this state of mind, but have no word for it: I have figured out the cause of the problem, but don't yet have a plan for fixing it.
Weird thought experiment, humans need to hide from a harsh uninhabitable planetary surface.
Would you rather take a multi-generation star ship to another planet, or live in a sealed vault on Earth for an equivalent time before your descendants can come back to the surface.
This Mutant Crayfish Clones Itself, and It’s Taking Over Europe
Before about 25 years ago, the species simply did not exist. A single drastic mutation in a single crayfish produced the marbled crayfish in an instant.
The mutation made it possible for the creature to clone itself, and now it has spread across much of Europe and gained a toehold on other continents. In Madagascar, where it arrived about 2007, it now numbers in the millions and threatens native crayfish.

An individual advertisement is often called an "ad" or an "advert" for convenience.
But if all #advertising is in fact #propaganda, what do we call an individual piece of propaganda? Should we call it a "prop" or a "propa"?
As in, "Aw, jeez, not another Coke prop." Or, "A propa only five minutes into the show? Fuck this."
Hey #Seattle! Come see my band Northern Nomads on February 15th at Barboza! Lots of danceable #synthpop and so on https://octodon.social/media/hRlv1Mwug80AZ4oCoSA
"Halt," the knight called. "Release her!"
The dragon and the princess looked at him.
"Why?" the princess said.
"Dragons are not pets!"

Thought I've been mulling: Designate a day of the month to data liberation.
Get YOUR data archived off SOMEONE ELSE'S system.
This isn't /removing/ it (unless you choose), but it is /getting a copy of what you created or want to control/.
So, that's the basic concept.
I'm thinking my way through the idea and am posting this to brainstorm.
My basic thought is to 1) organise the document as a FAQ, and 2) address process.
So let's dive in ....
