@Mainebot Then you, my friend, have been missing important discourse on Chuck Tingle's latest novella.
Made a fake bookface account just so that the hours for local businesses aren't behind a login wall.
This is a pretty good example of how bookface harms the internet.
The complete lack of even-half-decent brakes in standard w/chair design is why I tell anyone new to w/chairs that two /essential/ purchases are:
a) silicone rim-covers
b) thick-ass leather gloves that cover your thumb /at least/.
Your hands will not survive the amt of breaking you need to go down any reasonably sized hill without safety gear!
Your rims will be 100% useless in the rain without silicone covers.
Be safe (this also lets you go faster, so win-win) 👌
Don’t let people tell you “there are always a few bad apples”. That’s not how the saying goes. It’s actually “a few bad apples spoil the bushel” - in other words, if there are a few bad apples, that’s cause to believe the rot has spread and it’s time to throw the whole thing out.
Hey folks, I'll be writing about Kwanzaa ALL WEEK on my blog. I want to introduce the holiday to folks who've only heard about it while also talking about why it's personally significant to me. :)

These large flowers are dinosaur food. Please imagine a triceratops taking a big bite out of one before turning toward a T. Rex and saying "Curse you and your inevitable betrayal!"

The way these pots reflect the burners
The Xmas twig refused to take up water this year and dried out early.
Yesterday, a spider clutch that apparently came in on the tree hatched, and the apartment is covered in baby spiders.
Santa brought me spiders.
I caught one and will put it under the SEM later to spread the Xmas cheer!
"The world is complicated and morally grey and so often people do wrong things for the right reasons and right things for the wrong reasons" will never ever be a good reason to agree to "so please accept and forgive and forget the obvious litany of profoundly evil and morally reprehensible things a person has done because they're actually secretly nice and good because they say so".
remembers how to save a search (rediscovered it) as a new column. Do the search, and then the menu (upper right here) has "pin" in it. Pin it, and it'll stick around for you. I knew there was a way for doing that. Sometimes I need to remind myself of these things.
got a couple good photos of the spacex launch none of us knew about that scared the bejeezus out of us for a solid 20 minutes!
You niu users think you love bread, there's a Canadian woman suing grocers for $1bn for years of price fixing bread products (and I can attest that this is a real issue up here in supermarkets, sadly, so I hope this works out) https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2017/12/23/anti-poverty-activist-71-files-1-billion-class-action-lawsuit-over-bread-pricing-scheme.html
Hooray, I successfully made chestnuts that are easy to peel and eat!
The secret is to NOT roast them over an open fire, but in a pressure cooker. ;)
Lilly pollen x5000.
What are some best suggestions for doing refugee support work in the West? I've found refreshing connections made with refugees of all faiths, come in the wake of my recognitions of the Western power's deep failings. I've found comfort in sublimation of the client/provider relationship. By filling out forms, writing appeals and letters, it's possible to model humility ... but surrendering to one's inadequacy will only lead to despair, not what is required to further global reparations for wars.
