99/100: it's been raining around here these last few days.
Have an umbrella in case the wet weather gets to you.
Designed & demonstrated by Henry Pham: youtu.be/ioSy0sBIJAg
Amazingly, fairly easy for an Henry Pham model.

@CountZero Gobsmacked that that isn't a 3D print. Not just because it's so curvy, but it's the demo shade of blue.

@KevinCarson1 That's a good day!

I found enough scrap wire fencing to make hoops over the veg beds I dug over last week. Bird netting now tauter over the hoops -- I hate trapping birds -- and less scrap wire around and I didn't have to buy anything.

It sounds like it wants you to stop spilling your coffee into it!

Does "00000000-deca-fade-deca-deafdecacaff" sound like a valid UUID for a bluetooth device?

Sittin' around trying to come up with a list of female trickster heroes. I can come up with exactly one whom I'd fully buy as a trickster, and she's not even famous for the story of being a trickster -- Dido, who founded Carthage on as much land as could be covered by an oxhide.

I could be persuaded about Penelope. And I guess Loki isn't male full-time. Hmph.

@sculpin I'm in Penelope's camp big-time. She fools *everybody*. She's the only person who makes Ulysses totally lose his cool. Of course it's more grim and serious because women's lives were.

And the point about witches is good, too -- Circe and Calypso, for instance!

Is Cinderella's fairy godmother not a trickster of the stepfamily and the prince?

Finished! ...well, as finished as it's going to get. Wanted to keep this exercise fairly rough and loose. Dunno what it was about this lady, only had a plain stock photo to work from, but I really dug painting her.

I also recorded the painting process as an experiment, just to see how it might turn out - anyone interested in a speedy video of this one?

Also also, I suck at titles. 🤔 Suggestions?

dancers: this Friday is an hour's class in mazurka clandestina taught by Richard Powers and Angela Renae Amarillas, followed by two hours of DJd dancing. It's like a gentle tango waltz to the classic Polish rhythm. Yeah, that's a lot of styles to put together, but it works. Details at broadwaywaltz.com .

I've been using for years now, always at a very basic level (major modes for CSV, Python, Markdown, and a bit of magit.. Orgmode too, but I'm not a daily user) , and I still can't understand how package management should be done in order to maintain sanity. use-package seems great, except for all packages that won't work with it.

@jordyd How'd that work? I once didn't not get a tech job because I recognized a line from Aristophanes.

You can get a free ebook copy of Martha Wells new book Murderbot from Tor if you sign up to be on their mailing list. Wells wrote the Raksura series. This book is the start of a series about a bored AI who hacked their own governor module, likes to watch movies and read books and isn't a very good killer. PS. Anne Leckie likes the book.

Hm, well, I'm leaving the house now, so I guess it's too late; I'll try to give the ticket away there.

Tiniest meetup: I have a spare ticket for the Seattle Baroque Orchestra at 2:30 pm TODAY, downtown. Anyone interested? It will be mostly best pieces by minor composers, with some Telemann, looks like: earlymusicseattle.org/events/s

@akuchling Yeah, my household has cat allergies which makes bookstore cats troublesome. Not as bad as smoke though.

I was cleaning in an older relatives' house with a turntable and LPs, many familiar from my youth. HOT TAKE: LPs are a natural Pomodoro technique. Start a side, do a thing. When the click-hiss at the center bugs you, wash your hands, have a drink, turn over the record, d.c.a.f.

I feel like I should be able to get this on Lifehacker.
