i wanna make a bot to post these but finding visually pleasing parts isn't easy

@catoutofbed hmm need a good fitness function for "visually pleasing"

maybe ones with higher spatial frequency components (i.e. more detail)

@morae
i was thinking of trying that
these are all at massively different zooms so
probably you'd have to do random selection of a grid where not all points are escaping?

@morae
otherwise most test zooms will be into a region of where there's low noise and fail and it'd take forever

@catoutofbed yeah it's a bit tricky to structure a search unless you know what direction to move in to get higher frequencies (who knows, there might be a good solver for that optimization problem 🤷‍♀️ ) but a random walk sounds just as good

@morae
might toy around with it when i'm done
it'd be fun to feed it random fractals too, see what it spits out

@catoutofbed oo yes, then help @maenad set up their strange attractors bot

@morae @maenad
i have been meaning to figure out how strange attractors work...

@catoutofbed @morae major obstacle is just "need my server back"

Got the python code to post them and call the r script to generate them

@catoutofbed @morae lent it to a computer illiterate friend to run some code.

Gave her root.

Gonna wipe it as soon as she's done.

you could maybe construct a function to find them
but
they'd probably get pretty samey?

maybe something to try

@catoutofbed the more parameters you randomize on, the better
