apparently the part on that's broken on the a/c tensioner on my car is broken on like

@catoutofbed reminds me of the problem old Geo Tracker/Suzuki Sidekicks would have; their ECUs were prone to die (from thermal cycling, i think), so you’d replace it with one from a junkyard and be golden
until there weren’t any junkyard ECUs left and people started shadetree businesses repairing the boards
design flaws are hard to escape.
