Hi new masto-comrades! My name is Adriana, and I'm an non-binary, pan, anarchist (of some sort), and spoonie.
I'm currently studying environmental science, and I talk about all sorts of stuff behind the various appropriate CWs.
Say hi, have some tea, and let's burn down this empire together shall we? ๐ด ๐ ๐ณ๏ธโ๐
I feel like plastic grocery bags are a punishment for something.
I try so hard to avoid receiving them but I still accumulate so many.
@coachdrewglobal Now I see what you mean by "precocious!" :)
Hi I'm a twenty-something student majoring in Data Science for some stupid reason.
โค๏ธ I like 90s aesthetics and beige colored cases, wonky rasterizers, neat hacks and Quake.
โ ๏ธ I think the current big tech companies are a threat to our freedoms and so is predatory capitalism.
๐พ I suppose there's more to life than books and computers but it doesn't often feel that way.

@coachdrewglobal I wonder what kinds of decisions are made in her board room.
(Now picturing a grown-up walking in on their child doing a pretend read-aloud of a medical bill or credit card offer to a class of stuffed animals.)
I have my first graders' work sprawled out across the kitchen table right now as I prepare notes for upcoming parent-teacher conferences.
If any of my students saw me doing this, it would surely become part of how they play school. I wonder what they would use in place of real student work. Paper with scribbles on it? Junk mail? Their grown-ups' work or files?
Then, I will know I've made it.
My neighborhood laundromat is busier than I would expect before 9 a.m. on a frigid Saturday morning.
My goal in life is to one day be one of the older ladies who make it to the laundromat early enough on Saturdays to have their clothes in the dryer by 8.
thuck (thank fuck)

@eal Oh no. Now I am doing this too...
It's #Friday! I feel like wearing sequins today. Wishing I had some sequins and/or glitter to wear to school today. https://octodon.social/media/xe3lLjlr1DbMRwNUlBQ
@eurasierboy Did you hand out candy dressed as Sallie Mae?
@mrgah Shall I share that with the first graders? They'd appreciate the conciseness of the Greek, I'm sure. ๐
@mrgah Oh, do share when you find a quote. My knowledge of Plato is... err... quite limited.
@mrgah "I don't know" can also be such a powerful way for a teacher to respond to students' questions. (Especially if it's followed by an invitation to figure out the answer together.)
@mrgah Haha, funny we both landed on hair and wardrobe as a way to perform a less authoritative role. This year, I half-jokingly call my professional wardrobe my "teacher costume" to underscore the fact that I have some say in how I choose to perform the role of teacher.
@mrgah I get that! Before I worked at a school, I worked in museum education and often led public tours for adult visitors. I worked on honing my "expert but not authoritative" voice and dyed my hair so that folks wouldn't take me too seriously.
@DialMforMara Makes sense to me
