As far as writing notes to yourself in a "secret code" that you want to be able to actually read later, Quikscript is terrible (I forgot how to read it already). でも、エスクリビルエスパニョルコンカタカナはmuch better.

@generica Pimento cheese is a Southern-US thing. Basically a savory cheese spread made from cream cheese, mayo, shredded cheddar, with peppers and spices. Usually eaten on crackers or in sandwiches. I do love me some chili con queso, but being from Texas, I usually eat it poured over Fritos.

I never really liked pimento cheese until I tried the expensive brand (i.e. the one made from actual cheese). This week we actually made it from scratch and it's one of those things I don't know how I ever lived without.

ARGH a few months back I wrote a little thing in Ruby that would grab the local sunrise/sunset time and tell you the current time based on the actual sun position. I wanted to mess with it some more today, but I can't friggin' find it anywhere in my cloud stuff, and my home PC isn't turned on. My husband is home but doesn't know the password to log in. ARGH.

I don't know if clarifying you headcanon in a Google Doc on your phone counts as doing NaNoWriMo or not, but it is a thing I am doing.

Basically it's not "take these characters from an existing thing and porn them" but "take these characters from an existing thing, with another character from an existing thing, and put them in basically the plot from 2 other things mixed together". It still feels like plagiarism, though, which is why none of these ever get past the synopsis/notes stage.

Though maybe this sort of thing is how Fifty Shades originally got written? My brain has way less porn than that, though. And way healthier relationships (not totally healthy though, because humans).

In related news, writing a synopsis of the story that's been bouncing around in my head lately. I never get farther than that, though, because these things are always based on other people's characters and mostly just a backdrop for angst-ridden interior monologue.

I haven't yet figured out how to get anyone to pay me for what I'm really good at, which is spacing out and pretending the real world doesn't exist.

@generica I honestly miss Google Reader so very much, to this day. I still have the list of categorized RSS feeds, but never found a substitute I could live with (don't want to download a client, don't want any gimmicky crap, don't want to pay subscription fees to be able to have more than 50 feeds).

@somarasu There's another bit of advice that tells you to ask yourself, before you say something, whether what you have to say is true, necessary, and kind, and if it is not all 3 then you shouldn't say it.

'Nice' and 'kind' are two different things, but there are a lot of things I can think of that are both true and necessary to say that are damn near impossible to phrase in a way that is kind.

So the only FFXII:TZA trophy I still don't have is Mist Walker, and I am NOT looking forward to grinding that one.
