FakeBook (https://mestrerothio.itch.io/fakebook) is a game with some sweet music. It also features up-voting and down-voting news headlines and trying to amass a thing called "Followers". Before each vote you see what the current up-vote/down-vote ratio is. I found it difficult to tell what gains followers and what loses them. Maybe true to life? When I started Catalyst (https://thelucre.itch.io/catalyst) I thought I was going to hate it because of the punishing rhythm mini-game. Ended up being fun and rewarding. You have to appeal to followers to work in unity against the coming "darkness." This appeal is very abstract (rhythm game) but it works. I found myself a unsure which options to pick when strangers asked why I wore it, which I think brings to the forefront my own ignorance about this stuff (which is a good thing). The game also gives you the opportunity to protect another rider from a different sort of bigotry, or side with the bigot. Obviously, I picked solidarity, but even in that branch it let you choose how to de-escalate (or how to escalate, if you plan to fight the asshole). A short one.

#ResistJam Next up is The Cat in the Hijab (https://andyman404.itch.io/the-cat-in-the-hijab). This one places you in the role of an anthophomorphized cat in a hijab on a subway. Much more conversation variety than expected. You can have some civil discussions with ignorant ppl, but I think the game demonstrates how exhausting that is. It's sometimes a little confusing who's talking, but I think it's lack of polish is expected from a jam game.

#ResistJam played through a chunk of Papers, S'Il Vous Plait (https://praxisgames.itch.io/paperssvp). It's essentially a Canadian Papers Please in a hypothetical future where Kellie Leitch's Canadian "Values" test becomes a reality. I like it in concept, and it's topical, but I found it too long for the mechanics. You have to click 'Pass' or 'Fail' radio buttons a lot and they're quite small. It was kind of interesting to look for patterns in people's answers (not sure if there actually was).

Going to play through some #games from the #ResistJam this evening. I'll post mini reviews of any that seem interesting.
