#ResistJam played through a chunk of Papers, S'Il Vous Plait (https://praxisgames.itch.io/paperssvp). It's essentially a Canadian Papers Please in a hypothetical future where Kellie Leitch's Canadian "Values" test becomes a reality. I like it in concept, and it's topical, but I found it too long for the mechanics. You have to click 'Pass' or 'Fail' radio buttons a lot and they're quite small. It was kind of interesting to look for patterns in people's answers (not sure if there actually was).
deleting my toots about follower counts being bad. people have made good points about them being necessary and i feel pretty shitty for being so flippant about it. i'm sorry
THIS THREAD.
READ IT.
INTERNALISE IT.
REALISE HOW BADLY REMOVING FOLLOWER COUNTS COULD MAKE HARASSMENT IF PPL DON'T KNOW HOW FAR THEIR TOOTS WILL BE PROJECTED WHEN THEY WRITE THEM
Going to play through some #games from the #ResistJam this evening. I'll post mini reviews of any that seem interesting.
nintendo, you don't need to spend 15 minutes explaining how a horde mode works
i might be stoned, but i'm not fucking high

The 'check engine' light on my car came on last night and the diagnostic is going to be $150, not to mention any repairs that need to be done.
I'm a freelance writer/blogger on a fixed income. No one seems to want to pay writers much (if at all) these days, and I could really use your help.
If you can, please help. If you can't, please boost/re-toot/reblog this.

Thanks!
A nice thing right now is there isn't so much of a sense of popular people yet, although some folks are bringing their popularity as they come over from twitter. Twitter popularity is very stressful, like if every time I went to a party, Keanu Reeves and Noam Chomsky were chatting in the corner. I feel intimidated and very dull by comparison. I wonder if Mastodon will be able to maintain this sense of, "Hi stranger, let's get to know each other!" as more people join and establish their personas.
science fiction: we can imagine so many different futures. All the potential of humanity!
me: is there capitalism?
scifi: what
me: capitalism. in any of these futures, do people collectively realize capitalism makes them miserable and change things
scifi: there's so much technology there, in the future
me: yeah but
scifi: they even have iPads!
me: oh my god
I've been part of a Sex Workers Behind Bars penpal program for a little while now, exchanging letters with two people currently incarcerated in the US. One thing I've learned is that just having someone non-judgemental to listen, even if they can't relate to what the person's going through, can make a huge difference in the isolating, dehumanizing environment of US prisons. the convo about the crippling whiteness of masto & the site cultural implications of that 100% needs to happen but can we maybe have that convo dictated by POC and not Woke White People
Any #Vancouver #videogame people on here?
