So I like to make my to-do lists and such by hand, but I document what I actually work on & the steps I take on a wiki (in part because COPYPASTA)
But the to-do list is different, it's something I carry around with me, so I can jot down at random. In any case, I've never been able to use software for this purpose (even when it's totally cross platform on all my devices & computers...I've certainly tried...)
So of course working on my to-do list for today, the one item I select branches out into multiple sub-tasks... so while I was busy all day, I only cross off ONE item on my to-do list 😟
The solution is, of course, to add all the subtasks into the to-do list and cross them off... 😂
absolutely fascinated by the meta discussion on hashtags that you can find in #hashtags
😂
(me? I like 'em just fine, though sometimes figuring out how others are using them... )
Idea: a Friday #recap of the best mastodon interactions you've had during the week. Summarize and link to the conversation, and add #hashtags you might have forgotten at the time.
#Curation is a very manual process on Mastodon, for better or worse, so let's develop some habits to make #searching easier.
Some people here would cringe to death if they saw my perl scripts. I'll spare you but just imagine if your aunt whipped up a code and raisin salad.
If work is shut down and you are not going to get paid, should you go in anyway?
Asking for a million friends.
Ugh ddos attack middle of the night has me up and now i need to go back to sleep ⚔️
i do consider myself a laid back low key focused sort of person
except i turn into a wild-eyed attention-deficit addled maniac when in a chat room with someone who... types... really.... really...........really.......(omg let me check twitter) ...really (how 'bout that FB) really (maybe G+ has something) really....(ooh, I can read a couple pages in kindle).. slowly...
Husband: Are you mad at me? You look angry.
Me: I'm working in CSS.
Husband: Oh! Ok. That explains that then.
Why am I so predictably ridiculously pleased over purchases of various colored pens?
Oh, MegaRaid...what kind of drugs were your CLI developers on when they wrote that...thing?
dammit i always hate being stuck in chat when I type 500% faster than the other person
Boost if you agree
OMG today has been nothing but clean installs of OS... >.<
My Grandad's advice for safe driving was: "Always remember you're controlling a potentially lethal weapon". I think it helped me to take driving even more seriously.
Perhaps it's good advice for us technologists too...
"Always remember you're programming a potential platform for bullying and harassment".
"Always remember you're designing a potential system for mass surveillance".
"Always remember you're deploying a potential tool for mass social unrest".
It is so infuriating... I have NEVER hyphenated my name, but EVERYONE assumes that I did, so despite everything I fucking have to fucking list the fucking stupid fucking hyphenated name as a fucking alternate "id" for myself which fucking makes IT MORE REAL.
If you fucking work in taxes DON'T FUCKING ASSUME ANYTHING ABOUT A CLIENTS NAME FOR FUCKS SAKE.

To follow up on myself, I discovered the sac utility, which gets pretty close to what I want!
Debian based, but looks like it came from BSD, so probably widely available.
