I just learned that flash memory has finite read/writes. This means my genius plan to not have to buy a hard drive for my computer will not work. (Or maybe it will work? There's not much info out there about how fast flash memory decays)
@kimdanes it's a race as to whether you fill up your storage or run out of flash r/w
Anyway, back everything up :) You never know what's going to fail when.
(& why no HDD for your computer? $$? a chromebook essentially has this setup)
a lot depends on your storage requirements but yeah, spend the money on cpu & ram first if speed is a priority. i do fine with a 500G drive, but i don't store (or edit) video or similar
@browneyedgirl well that's frightening. Thx for the info. And it's more like I can probbbably afford an HDD, but I'd much rather just get a better cpu or something with the money.
