I am so tired of the fact that i don't understand stuff around me. I can't read the signs around me, can't ask for something specific as i could in my home country. It takes so much energy to just order food in a restaurant or specify which ice cream you want.

@breton learning German is probably the key. Most Germans don't speak English well in practice, so that won't help much in DE.

@mcscx it is a long way to go. And i am already tired :)

@mcscx Huh, I heard that Germans at large are amongst best English speakers, excluding native ones of course.
@xrevan86 walk into a random shop in a small town in DE and talk to the people in English… they will be helpless… it just happens too rarely
@xrevan86 in contrast to Germany: Dutch and Scandinavians are used to watch films in English with subtitles → more practice.
People in the Southwest of Germany are subtitled too (for the other Germans, to understand their dialect). ;)
@tuxpost  From the Southwest myself :-) Yeah that slang can be a challenge ;-) Although I wonder if it's more diffcult than Boarisch
