@Reinderdijkhuis You could use a templating system on your PC and only upload static files. Depending on your level of comfort with PHP that might be the way to go. Personally I would prefer to handle everything on the server (i.e. use a CMS), but I am a special case because I can fix things in the PHP.

GIMP 2.10!

Officially put out today, and it's the largest ever release.

GIMP 2.10 is the result of six years of work that originally focused on porting the program to a new image processing engine, GEGL.

The new version ships with far more new features, including new and improved tools, better file formats support, usability improvements, revamped color management support, a plethora of improvements for digital painters.

Not sure if I just watched an exciting race or a shambles, but there was plenty of drama.

@pzmyers No, but I did this unscientific study into the disappearance of ballpoint pens recently: tekstadventure.nl/branko/blog/

@Reinderdijkhuis Welcome to pre-post-humanism. I seem to remember something about old couples having a better memory together than apart.

@Reinderdijkhuis My laundry is in my arms. So far so good.

* Pulls his laptop from his laundry basket, because that was apparently the only place in the house where there was room for a laptop yesterday. *

What do you think, should I tidy the place up?

I read that Elon Musk added some trash in earth orbit, yet everyone is cheering. What am I missing?

Nice half-hour radio show about the The Cure song Boys Don't Cry - how it came into being, how it influenced people's lives, and about the inhibition some men feel to show emotion:

I use a browser I cannot trust running on an OS I cannot trust running on a PC I cannot trust to access a bank I cannot trust via an ISP I cannot trust. And that is my best option.

Creative peeps, the Lens Culture guide to saying 'exposure' without saying 'exposure' has just come out:

TL/DR:
exposure (3×)
exhibition (2×)
opportunity (2×)
engagement

projection
publication
visibility

Just so you don't have to do the homework for my last toot:

1978: JVC sells first VHS recorder.
1994: Dumb and Dumber out.
1997: Ally McBeal first aired.
1999: 10 gigabyte hard disks widely available.
2001: Bram Cohen introduces Bittorrent.
2002: final Ally McBeal episode first aired.
2003: 30% of Dutch households have broadband.
2003: US DVD rentals exceed VHS rentals.
2004: 25% of all internet traffic is Bittorrent.
2006: IT Crowd's first joke about Ally McBeal's co-ed toilets.

You too can be an archaeologist!

Throwing out my VCR because even in the attic it is taking up too much space. Checking the two unmarked tapes I still had to see if they contained family mementos. No luck. Instead the tapes contained Dumb and Dumber and an episode of Ally McBeal.

I guess that was the broadband watershed. Or maybe the time that hard disks were large enough to store video. Or Bram Cohen had perhaps invented Bittorrent around then.

@Reinderdijkhuis Don't know what this is about, but I wish you courage, wisdom and good luck. Make sure you get legal help regardless the outcome, most large cities have free legal helpdesks of some sort.

I accidentally threw some cheese in my coffee. H1: major culinary invention. H0: yuck. We'll see how it goes.

Ajax is no longer letting the groundskeeper give the post-match interviews.

An improvement, I say.
