@pixelpaperyarn I read far more ebooks than I do physical books at the moment (this has been true for the past 4 years). I subscribe to quite a few sf mags that provide ebook versions of their content (and I only get the ebook version).

I also use humble bundle and story bundle to get ebooks as well.

anyone here actually read ebooks?

i run a lit mag and i'm trying to determine if it's worth the significant extra effort to put epub & kindle out there.

they barely sell. i do much better with the print editions. i'm just not sure if the audience is small but loyal, or if digital feels like a bonus addon that people take but never actually read.

please give me your insights!!! i need perspective outside my own. :)

boost too, if you'd be so kind.

I am so sick of working with psychopaths and sociopaths. Are there organisations without them about the place?

@gerhildt Feel free to block me after this, I will not worry.

I assume you spend a fair bit of time on tumblr (which is an awesome site) and that you have been influenced by TERFs into believing that queer is a slur b/c they are doing their best to police trans people.

The people most likely to have faced the use of queer as a slur are 50+ in age. That's not you or me. I have a lot of sympathy for them, but even many of them are reclaiming queer as a term used to describe us.

I'm very much in the frame of mind that if my parents were going to disown me, they can fuck right off and I won't attempt to change who I am to seek their approval.

My partner on the other hand is from an incredibly abusive household, and the surviving parent has learnt abusive behaviours from the other. So it's all twisted and fucked.

So what do you do when your partner's parents disown them because of who they love?

Who makes the first move to reconcile? (I just want to yell at them, so I'm not the right person)

Said parents in this case are quite happy to accept children born out of wedlock of their grandchildren (they're conservative Catholics) but not at all accepting of same-sex relationships and nonmonogamy.

@gerhildt I'm sorry that you're triggered by it due to trauma, that is awful.

I'm sure you know that many members of the LGBTIQ+ communities have reclaimed the word and use it positively.

As it is a day ending in Y, this is your friendly reminder that "gay" is not an umbrella term for the LGBTIQ+ communinties.

We're not all gay. We're bisexual, pansexual, queer, asexual, lesbian, and some (this may even surprise you) are straight (I'm referring to trans people FYI).

So if you find the acronym LGBTIQ+ too difficult, then you can use QUILTBAG (queer, undecided, intersex, lesbian, trans, bisexual, asexual, gay) or "queer" as umbrella terms.

Hello internet friends. Anyone in
on here?

I have that cat, and I want to send him home. I'd love to boost this as far as it'll go. If it was my cat not coming home, I'd be devastated. Help me send this asshole home!

I asked this ages ago, but don't know what the current answer is - is there Mastadon for Android?

@ValerianForrest I'm off to Berlin, Prague (wanted to go there since 1990), Munich, Vienna and Budapest. We're travelling by train between all the cities, so it will be pretty, and Budapest (where we finish up) is full of hot springs, so we're looking forward to soaking in warm water while it is cold and being very very relaxed.

I was looking at studying in Lisbon a few years ago (still might if I can get the money together), so am looking forward to checking the city out

@ValerianForrest I've been doing that for my Eastern European trip for October, and I don't know how I'm going to fit in all the museums or places to eat. It's not a bad problem to have.

I'm looking at going to Lisbon next year too, I've been wanting to go for a while.

@Eve It's blocked at my work but As The Crow Flies webcomic is good and has a trans character.

@tqft I should probably do more searches to find people with similar interests

Partly solved the problem by getting someone else to do the thing that was making me somewhat anxious. One less thing makes the load much lighter.
