I'd like to practice designing logos. Is anyone part of a project or group which needs one? :) Or do you know a logo which could be improved?

@blinry you might be able to get some freelance work for designing logos if you sign on to Upwork.

@blinry my site svgshare.com has a logo I made badly in a hurry, so if you want to improve it you'd be very welcome to.

@Chaos_99 Ha, this is exactly the kind of community project I was hoping for! :) Maybe I'll draw up some ideas!

@blinry We collect proposals since years, but none is good enough that we even consider having a logo at all. technikkultur-erfurt.de/bytesp

@Chaos_99 I can't access this link (403) – could you re-up it somewhere?

@Chaos_99 Where does the name "Bytespeicher" come from?

@blinry One of Erfurts cultural attractions is the Waidspeicher, now a theater, back then a storage building for dying plants. Bytespeicher is a play on that.

@blinry 'dying' should be 'dyeing' of course. I blame autocorrection. (But was lazy proofreading)

@Chaos_99 Hehe, we had a good laugh about this! :P

@Chaos_99 Here is a suggestion by @Pecca and me, a Speicher consisting of two 1's, storing a byte of windows! :) Feedback very welcome! chaos.social/media/92IXptw3SpO

@blinry @Pecca Thanks! I'll present it to the other members. What's the license on this?

@Chaos_99 @Pecca This sketch is CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 by @Pecca and me.

For the final version, we would suggest a much more liberal license (to facilitate printing it on posters/stickers/etc). Like the license of Tux or stratum0.org/wiki/Logo

@blinry Mastodon designers talk about making a new logo for the software. Maybe this discussion could interest you.

@blinry Also there is a FabLab logo in the middle of the later, with obvious copyright problems.
