At a town meeting last night, someone got offended that our unpaid but elected council member referred to themselves as a volunteer. Can you be both elected and a volunteer? Or are they mutually exclusive? Serious question. Bonus for citable sources.
@sconlan Well, no sources to cite but I'm in a similar position and would probably refer to myself as a volunteer. I volunteered to be put up for election after all.
