@boots Yeah:

irb(main):001:0> _ = "hi"
=> "hi"
irb(main):002:0> _
=> "hi"
irb(main):003:0> _.class
=> String
irb(main):004:0> _.class
=> Class
irb(main):005:0> _
=> Class

@boots Yeah. I'm pretty sure Ruby's IRB would behave some kinda similar way just with different particulars. I bet you'd end up at Class or Module instead of 'string'.

@davidsgallant I just spent a week and a half confusing locale id with country id. So I was looking at the data for Argentina and confused why it wasn't matching the data for the United States... because the US locale id happens to be Argentina's country id. 🤦

Welp, Mastonauts. I figured the thing out. On the one hand: I am a not-smart man who can confuse two numbers for DAYS on end causing himself much grief and woe. On the other hand, I don't have to quit being a programmer to live in the woods and raise goats. So... :nodbad:

me: i can fix this right or i can fix this fast.
boss: show me what "fast" looks like
me: mastodon.hafen.io/media/unxXYw

@deshipu Is Polish [one, two, many] or are there more forms than that? This is great, by the way, thanks for this. I'll think about it a bit and figure out how I wanna add it to the post.

When I get around to it, I'll also try to remember to add your name to the "thanks" section. If you want that, how should I refer to you?

So sad to see that we only start getting users from all over the world and here go people starting to complain : 'oh no, I don't want to see those mean symbols because I don't speak foreignese'.

Here's a crazy idea : stay on your local timeline or go learn some foreign languages. Maybe the Fediverse timeline itself isn't so useful because we can only understand a small part of it but that's the pulse of our Fediverse. We dig what we dig.

Then again, everyone's choice and all but it's real shame to see people actually waisting time to think about the best way to block foreign contents. You wanna code ? Code something useful.

@SuzanEraslan Right? Everything Whats Wrong of Raccoons might be the peak of creative output in modern English.

@deshipu Fascinating. You got any reference links that might include examples?

@beatmania I don't think you can PR to change a repo name. Also, changing the name now would break everyone's local references to that remote. Not worth it.

@boots Well, for some reason I can't screenshot it for you. 🙃

Anyway, it's one tall column of rectangles and then at the very end, it is a row of rectangles where the right-most one gets cut off a bit, it looks like.

@boots It is v tall, if that's what you're asking.

Who the hell called it tootsuite/documentation and not tootsuite/mastodoc?

@DialMforMara This was super confusing to me at first. That my typo of "sparkling" would collide with an actual person. But on second thought that isn't so surprising, given, well, the internet. Haha.

@DialMforMara ZOMG. Will have to miss it, but maybe I can read after the fact.

@DialMforMara I am really bad at reading academic writing, but this thesis sounds super interesting to meeeee!

Anyway, I'm super glad to have met you on here. :sprakling_heart:

@DialMforMara That's pretty cool. What did you graduate with? If you don't mind my asking.
